the direction of the Executive Director of Research, the Associate
Director of Business Development for Clinical Research develops and
implements growth strategies for obtaining clinical trials,
including business development strategies and assessment, guidance
and monitoring of operational needs. In close partnership with
research management, marketing and other relevant teams, the
Associate Director of Business Development identifies, negotiates,
secures, and manages clinical trials within Insight Research
Institute through all stages of a clinical trial study.JOB
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration or life sciences
required
- 4-6 years experience in sales or business development
(including identifying, negotiating, and closing business
opportunities) with a track record of delivering results
required
- Experience in developing and managing revenue budgets
- Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a
regulated environment required
- Strong knowledge and skills in business development and
general/fiscal management tools including business case development
and business planning required
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities
required
- Well developed skills in the area of planning, organizing and
management of interdepartmental teams with the ability to recommend
and implement process changes required
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills including
the ability to establish credibility and develop professional
working relationships with all levels of staff within the
scientific, clinical and business community required
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills to implement
business decisions required
- Strong project management skills: needs assessment; planning;
facilitation; problem solving; tracking; and delegation and/or
performance of project tasks to ensure project completion within
designated time frames required
- Computer skills including word processing, electronic
spreadsheets, CTMS systems, and other database software programs
requiredRESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Director of Research, the Associate
Director of Business Development, Clinical Trials implements growth
strategies for the service line, including business development
strategies and assessment, guidance and monitoring of operational
needs
- Creates and manages annual revenue goals, including creation
and implementation of countermeasure actions to ensure revenue
targets are met
- Actively interacts with Diagnostic Labs Marketing for the
creation and implementation of marketing strategic plans specific
for the growth of Clinical Trials and Cellular Therapy
Services
- Actively markets, identifies, negotiates, and closes clinical
trial business development opportunities
- Plan and implement strategies to increase subjects
recruitment
- Mentors team members
- Evaluates needs, then plans, facilitates, delegates and/or
performs Clinical Trials and Cellular Therapy Services project
tasks in compliance with internal policies and external
regulations, while ensuring project completion within designated
timeframes and budget; as issues/problems arise, takes appropriate
action to resolve
- Monitors project milestones and provides timely progress
reports as needed
- Ensures sound customer service and working relationships with
key staff of internal and external clients. Establishes an
effective, collaborative relationship with the scientists and
physicians throughout the organization, as well as external
partners and collaborators aiming evaluation and execution of
Clinical Trials and Cellular Therapy Services opportunities
- Actively participates in strategic planning for the
organization; develops goals and plans for Clinical Trials and
Cellular Therapy Services segments that contribute to
organizational plans/goals; communicates vision and strategies
within the organization, and externally, as needed
- Continuously monitors customer needs, market, and competition
and adjusts existing practices to ensure business competitiveness
and sustainability
- Provides feedback and collaborates with peers to bring new
and/or improved tests to market, driving solid and sustained
revenue growth of the Clinical Trials and Cellular Therapy Services
and/or Diagnostic Laboratory division
- Recommends and participates in the implementation of policies,
processes, procedures and programs for IRI operations as
needed
- Quality Assurance/Regulatory Compliance
- Ensures that any custom or improved tests meet all regulatory
and client requirements
- Ensures that appropriate IRB (Institutional Review Board)
approval is obtained as necessary
- Prepares and monitors revenue growth plans, and departmental
expense budgets; assures department activities are conducted within
established budget
- Leads financial analysis of new opportunities to ensure
growth
- Run a full cycle sales process from prospecting to closing
- As a change agent trained in Change Acceleration Process, leads
continuous improvement to create customer value more efficiently
and effectivelyGENERAL DUTIES
- Functions as a productive member of Insight Research
Institute's Management Team
- Represents IRI at designated internal and external meetings and
assumes other special assignments as designated by the Director and
upper management
- Provides customer feedback to operational staff
- Upholds the customer service standards and management
philosophy of IRI
- Performs other duties as assigned
