Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization. In this role, you will provide technical leadership for defining, architecting, and investing in high leverage technology solutions to power our Card Partnerships business segment, which provides Cobrand and Private Label Credit Card products through relationships with leading client companies across multiple industries. In addition to working with integrated Partnerships business, technology and operations teams, you will contribute to architecture across broader Card and Enterprise teams, which are heavily leveraged throughout Partnerships solutions. Key responsibilities: Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability and operability Continue learning and injecting advanced technical knowledge into our community Handle several projects simultaneously, balancing your time to maximize impact Act as a role model and mentor within the tech community, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community Lead definition and alignment of solutions architecture design across multiple platforms, domains, and stakeholders Lead trade-off and impact analysis work for hard-to-change technical decisions, and manage technical conflict Demonstrate thought leadership and strategy in collaboration with delivery and product partners Prepare and present solutions in Architecture Review Boards, and in various discussions with product, platform and architecture stakeholders Present work products and strategies to product managers, technology leadership across Capital One Represent architecture responsibilities as the primary architecture point of contact for a set of systems, domains, and business needs The successful candidate will: Effectively communicate and build relationships to interact, inform, influence and communicate with key stakeholders at all levels across the company Exhibit mastery of facilitation and influence across teams, departments and divisions that seeks out and invites alternate opinions while building consensus Enjoy the camaraderie, debates, and leaning that comes from working with a team of passionate technologists Identify and explain the near- and long-term impacts and implications of decisions Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask, while quickly shifting context and priorities as needs evolve Have a proven track record for leading and enabling technology, architecture and software engineering activities at enterprise scale Be self-motivated and display an unwavering responsibility to deliver high quality results and commitments Possess a keen attention to detail and a passion for Architecture, Software Engineering, Technology and Customer Experiences Have an intellectual curiosity and interest to maintain and acquire new business, technology and architecture skills Basic Qualifications Bachelor---s Degree At least 7 years of experience in enterprise architecture, software architecture, business architecture, or application architecture Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field 10 years of experience in technology architecture or software engineering 10 years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support 2 years of experience with public or private cloud technologies Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $274,800 - $313,600 for Distinguished EngineerIllinois (Hybrid On-Site): $256,200 - $292,400 for Distinguished EngineerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate---s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
